This is a review of one the best productivity monitors under 500$, the 34WN80C-B. LG launched this monitor in September 2019 and quickly made headlines for its great value. The 34WN80C-B is one of the best out there for productivity, content production and video editing due to its 21:9 aspect ratio and above-average pixel density.

Main characteristics of the LG 34WN80C-B
Display: 34″ ultrawide 1440p
This ultrawide monitor features a 34 inch display with a WQHD resolution of 3440×1440, using an IPS panel. The 34WN80C includes AMD FreeSync, but beware that it has a 60Hz refresh rate, making it not the perfect option for quick-action games. Colors are pretty accurate, but keep in mind that the display is matte, which will be helpful when near windows. Colors will look a little less vibrant than a glossy display. The 34WN80C has HDR 10 support for vivid images.
This monitor covers 99% of the sRGB spectrum, perfect for individuals that need great color accuracy.
LG also includes Screen Split 2.0 with this 34 inch ultrawide monitor, enabling the user to use two different inputs simultaneously, side by side. Additional features include a Gaming and Reader mode (less eye fatigue).
Ports of the 34WN80C
IO for this 34 inch ultrawide 1440p monitor includes one Display Port, two HDMI, optical audio input, two USB 3.0 and a USB C. The type C input can charge up to 60W and be used for display and data. This means that if you have a Macbook or any laptop with USB C, you can connect using a single cable, making it a great docking station. The display port is also perfect for future proofing the display: if you need it for a PC in the future, you are covered.
Build Quality
This monitor has a perfect build quality, with a metal stand which can be adjusted. Plastic in the 34WN80C is almost non existent. It feels sturdy and will not break. The slightly curved screen is beautiful and causes less eye fatigue.
The only downside of this monitor is the lack of internal speakers. If they were integrated, my setup would look much cleaner and it would result in not having to buy external speakers.
The best 34 inch ultrawide monitor with 1440p ?
I can’t praise this monitor enough: it is stunning, well built and eye catching. Due to its ports its future proofed and the QHD display is good enough for most people needs. I would buy the 34WN80C-B by LG again in a heartbeat. Currently, the LG 34WN80C-B costs 550$, but if you can find it for less than 500$ definitely buy it, don’t even think about it ! Its that good.
